High School
What we typically call high school, classical education calls rhetoric school. Built upon the foundation of grammar and logic, the rhetoric stage synthesizes the facts and methods of analysis mastered in the lower grades to create outlines, arguments, proofs, research, translations, and speeches to partake in, promote, and conform to what is good, true, and beautiful. Like the soaring vaults and stained glass walls of a cathedral, so our rhetoric school brings to harmonious completion the grand project of classical education.
How do we achieve this? Small Socratic seminars, an explicit study and practice of rhetoric, a rigorous study of ancient languages, and dual enrollment classes set Geneva’s rhetoric school apart from other high schools. These distinctives prepare students for all types of future studies and careers. Most importantly, however, these distinctives shepherd our students towards a beautiful life in service to Christ.
Our first rhetoric school students will graduate in 2028. In these founding years of Geneva’s rhetoric school, students have the unique privilege of building the traditions, clubs, and electives for these grades. Come shadow our rhetoric students soon, and see how you can bless and be blessed by The Geneva School.
